| I plan on having a real post one of these days. I've had several things I've thought about writing - but I never thought of them when I had the patience/energy to sit here and type with a sling on my right arm. (speaking of which, I might have to see if my Doctor will give me a copy of the latest XRay I had today. The break is insanely clear, and good grief I jacked up my arm!)
Anyway - this is not a real post. BUT - you must click on this link: www.ccrfa.com and vote for my friend's Coke commercial. Just go to finalists, and watch "Butter Not Forget." If his is picked by the judges, it'll be one showing in all the AMC theatres. It's awesome, and I told him I'd bug people to watch. Every view is a vote.

| Learning To Be A Lefty
I actually have a real excuse for not posting the last couple of weeks (we'll forget the several before that). I have finally - for better or worse - joined the millions of people who've managed to break a bone, as well as severely spraining another joint.
More specifically, I have an olecranon radial head fracture of the right arm and a sprained wrist. That very roughly translates to a broken right elbow. But it's this specific part of the elbow, which I've come to learn you use more than you'll ever know. In fact, I physically can't turn my arm palm up and I can't straighten it without serious pain and a little help. Typing (outside of work) isn't exactly at the top of my list these days.
So how did I manage this? There actually is a story, and it does not involve any of the ice/sleet/slippery roads and sidewalks. I'm proud to say I'm still keeping to my college oath of never falling on the ice. I managed to break it during an indoor soccer game 3 days before Christmas. I had been playing my best game of the season, and had come out towards the end to rest (indoor soccer has constant substitutions). After a couple of minutes, one of the other girls on the team called over to see if someone else wanted to come in for the last 2 minutes. Like I said, I was having a decent game that day and was having a lot of fun so I took her up on the offer. That's right, with less than 2 minutes left in a game, when I was just on the field for the heck of it, myself and a guy on the other team got tangled up against one of the walls while both of us were half running. And we went down hard. Only I went down falling over top of him and to the side, with my arm outstretched to break the fall of course. I nailed the palm of my hand and as soon as I stood up I knew I had to get off the field.
Who knew you can actually break an elbow by falling on an outstretched arm? Apparently, that's one of the few ways this type of break can happen. Something along the lines of the tendon that connects that joint can snap the bone during the trauma.
It's probably not what most people want to hear when an orthopaedic surgeon is staring at their Xrays, after an MRI. But I was definitely entertained by my Doctor's 'Wow. Wow, that's impressive. Wow.' And that's a direct quote.
So there you have my fun holiday story.
I still haven't gotten my part of the medical bills (urgent care, several xrays, orthopedist, MRI, orthopedist, xrays - oh joy!). And I don't really want to, but I suppose I don't have a choice.
But on the great side - I lucked out and managed to find an orthopaedic surgeon that is definitely one of the best doctors I've ever dealt with. His staff is awesome too. I was simply looking for an orthopedist that could see me with a couple hours notice, but it worked out awesomely.
Of course, he's making me wear a pain-in-the-butt sling until at least February. It's not working well with my life. I usually just take it off at work, because I can't do anything with it on. But I kind of got in trouble for that today. I asked his medical assistant about just getting a splint (it's like a soft cast), so I don't keep moving my arm when I take the sling off. His reply was 'I don't want you taking the sling off. Don't even take it off for a couple hours at work. If you have it off, you'll use the arm, and I don't want you using the arm.'
I'm really not sure how that's going to work. Sadly, I see myself taking the sling off yet again when I go to work Saturday afternoon. Let's just hope I don't screw it up even more.

| Words of wisdom for the day: watch this video. It says enough.
***edit*** Sorry, the old link was taken down sometime after I posted it, so here's one that actually works.
I chose the wrong time to get back into blogging. I seriously don't even have the time to write this right now, but I keep finding ways to procrastinate. For those of you who are purposely staying stupid and uninformed, there are just 5 days left before election day. What you may not know is I happen to be in charge of it at my place of employment. So, eventually I will get my time and my brain back and will write something worth taking time to read.
Until then - go vote, and be nice to the media (or at least most of them).

| I didn't forget my promise. I merely got delayed by a migraine that would not go away.
So, here I am. I'm back.
Not that I have much of anything to say today. I'm being much too productive to let my mind wander off in a blogging direction. I have today off (of course, not that it means I don't have work to do - I plan on spending my entire evening taking care of some elections responsibilities), so I have been catching up on all the projects around my apartment.
I really am an incredible procrastinator. Not that I don't have the desire to get things done. I just have a much greater desire to be lazy and/or have fun during my free time. So ANYWAY ... I'm being productive today. I even have a 'to do' list, and am steadily crossing off the items.
So I know this may not be a "real" blog post, but I did type something on here - more than just "I need to post." I'm slowly re-introducing myself to the habit.
And in the near future, I even hope to actually have a new look. Once I can figure out this whole "themes" change thing Xanga did to the formatting. I even made myself a new header graphic. So that gives you something to look forward to.

| Here's a promise to you - and myself. After I manage to survive the next 96 hours, I will write a new post.
I actually have things to write about. I've even been thinking about things to write for the past two weeks. But the energy to formulate sentences is always sucked out of me by the end of the day.
So until Monday night (or possibly Tuesday sometime) just pray I don't lose my sanity. Seriously.
